Time is running out for the old pound coin so shake out your coin stashes

Say hello to the new……………………..

Day 100 - Cross My Palm...

Wave goodbye to the old…………………….

The round one pound coin will no longer be legal tender from midnight this Sunday 15th October, so shops, bars, cafes, restaurants etc will be able to refuse them should you try to pay for something with one. However, some retailers may well continue to accept them at least for another couple of weeks, and you will be able to exchange them for the newer tender at a bank or Post Office “until further notice”.

Apparently the old coins are going to be melted down to make new ones.

Whilst you’re there, you can also check your 50p collections as some of the rarer ones are fetching considerably more than their face value. Have a look at the Royal Mint catalogue to see images of limited editions – you could be sitting on a (limited) fortune…..

Happy researching!
