You need to apply for your student finance as a matter of urgency. The easiest, safest and quickest way for most students to apply is online but as the process varies depending on where you are from (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, EU) make sure you complete the correct application and follow the instructions carefully.

If you have already started making an application for your funding and you are going to be a full time student, you will need to update your account with your final details. Log on to your account, go to Change your application then University/College and course

If you are going to be a part-time student, you can update your information using a Change of Circumstances form. You can download one here: www.gov.uk/student-finance-forms

For more information about funding, there are some useful resources here: http://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/media/6272/sfe_clearing_toolkit_2015.pdf

Student Finance England will be on Twitter @SF_England from Thursday 13 August until Wednesday 19 August, just send your question to @SF_England.

We also have our own Brighton-specific Clearing guide

Be prepared – if you are only applying for your funding now, the chances are the assessment won’t be finalised until after term has started, so make sure you have some money to tide you over for a few weeks.

Thinking about bank accounts? You don’t need to wait for enrolment to open a student bank account. Many banks will accept a written uni offer and/or student finance assessment as proof of study so you can look into which account best suits your needs and apply for one. We don’t endorse one bank over another, so shop around. Which produce excellent independent advice.

Need to find somewhere to live? The Accommodation service will be running Househunting events, so make sure you get signed up for those
