Politicians and church groups have been looking at the increasing use of foodbanks throughout the UK as reported in this BBC article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-30346060

People struggling on low incomes are turning to foodbanks for assistance with food parcels as a more regular occurrence. This is a very real issue now affecting working families and students where it had previously been seen as something which related to homeless individuals and families and rough sleepers.

We have referred students to foodbanks in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings, who rely on donations from supermarkets and groups who collect food within their communities.

If you want to know more about foodbanks, here are some within the local area who we work with:

Hastings foodbank http://hastings.foodbank.org.uk/
Eastbourne foodbank http://eastbourne.foodbank.org.uk/
