Autumn Mood

One of my favourite things about the shift in the seasonal calendar, is the opportunity to shift gears on aesthetics and sensibilities.

As almost everyone on social media has already said; while September is more back-to-school for most, for me it’s like hitting refresh on everything. My wardrobe changes from strappy camisoles to chunky knitwear, I swap my nude lipsticks for berry reds, and I prefer spending more time curled up in front of the TV rather than on a beach.

This season I’m looking forward to properly testing my capsule wardrobe (I know – how is one supposed to survive with under 30 pieces? Including shoes and bags??). I’ve worked out my style statement for the next couple months, the only thing I need to add are some accent colours, which I’m looking forward to picking up during Black Friday sales!

Beauty-wise, I’m going back to my trusty Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Glastonberry. Very tempted to try out Glossier’s cloud paint liquid blushes, so if anyone’s tried them out, give me a shout so I can pick your brain over whether I should get one or 3 shades. I’ve also started curling my hair with a flat-iron and I’m actually really enjoying the whole bed-head, beachy-waves vibe – very autumnal.

On the lifestyle front, (and mom if you’re reading this, don’t roll your eyes again) I’m looking forward to getting back into a fitness routine. I’ve signed up for yoga, pilates and spin classes at a local gym, although I am dreading the spin class more than life itself. Another habit I’m trying (and succeeding) to practice is to eat-in more often during the week than I did last year. I was on placement so at the end of the day I was in no mood to get into the kitchen and prep and cook dishes. It’s embarrassing how I had to walk in to the local Chinese restaurant and they already knew what I was going to order.

To wrap this up and bring it back to my project – if you’ve been following along on Instagram, I’m trying to prep and plan my posts to match a very different aesthetic this season. Instead of going for a darker theme, I’m choosing to focus more on brighter images and colours. Some people are going to be shocked when I say this, but I’m really enjoying a yellow, orange and red colour palette at the moment, and hopefully you’ll see more very soon!
