La Liste De Luxe is a bi-annual publication, and an encyclopedic guide that reviews and reflects on the latest season in the fashion industry. It is a channel for members from creative fields, and for those outside the industry to gain an insight into more than what the brand is presenting on the runway.
The objective of the magazine is to encourage readers from outside the industry to engage in conversations and dialogues about the luxury fashion business and asshoppers to be better informed about different brands when making purchases. It is for readers interested in, or wanting to invest in luxury fashion, as well as for those that just want to know more about the business.
La Liste De Luxe is not only about the on-goings in luxury fashion from the latest season. It aims at educating the reader about the brand’s heritage and legacy and making them aware of the foundation on which the brand is built. It’s almost like a beginner’s guide to each brand to bring the reader up to speed with the collection just gone by.
The content focuses on various elements of brands, such as the current creative director, iconic products and campaigns, and evolving client profiles. The visuals for the magazine might vary in terms of the style of photography, but the overall colour palette will match those forecasted for the season.
The magazine is represented with a very clean, simple and structure aesthetic. It is easy to navigate, and instead of one or two large paragraphs of information, it is broken into smaller groups to make it a less overwhelming read. Each page has a white background and a small page border to maintain a clean space, and the colour scheme is made to matchthe prominent colours of the season. The visual identity is inspired by elements of different magazines and publications both online and offline. Some examples of the influencing media are:
-Kinfolk and Cereal for their minimal layout
-The Anna Edit, Mode D’Amourand Vienna Wedekind’sstyle of writing, styling and photography
-The Business of Fashion, Vogue and Draper’s for how they curate their content
As the magazine is based on luxury fashion, we want the printed copy to feel just as luxurious and almost feelexpensive. With potential stockists like Selfridges, Maison Assouline, and Net-A-Porter; we want the publication to fit right in with other luxury fashion books and magazines. The intension is for the magazine to be bought and archived by readers as collectible volumes from each season.
The first thing to consider is the immediate visuals. As readers, their first interaction with the magazine will be with the cover and the initial flick through. For the cover, at the moment we are experimenting with a very minimal approach. As for the inside, the fonts will be different styles of serif typeface –Garamond, in black ink.
The next element to consider is the size of the magazine. The publication will be an A4 size copy, with 90 GSM, matte paper for the inside pages, and 170GSM matte, uncoated paper for the cover. While this isn’t the final decision, the magazine will either be hardbound with a thicker spine, or depending on the number of pages in the final outcome, it may be a paperback copy to make it lighter.
La Liste De Luxe will also have an online website with daily updates, to keep up with current and new trends. The website, like the published magazine, will change it’s colour schemes each season to match the forecasted palette. It will be an interactive website with drop-down menus and a responsive design. It will allow the viewer to access from different devices and share content on most social networking applications.
