Several of our students have successfully completed the PG Cert in Simulation in Clinical practice -Well Done to our first official cohort! Some are going onto complete other modules as part of the MSc in Clinical Education.

The feedback on the course from both students and the external examiner alike  was very good.

Teaching Fellows in Simulation (BSMS)

There are three Teaching Fellow positions about to be advertised within the next two weeks through HE (KSS) and the University of Sussex. These roles are fixed term (12 months) as an ‘out of programme experience’ working at BSMS in the Department of Medical Education under the supervision of Dr Wesley Scott-Smith. All of these roles will include a contribution to teaching within the department whilst the successful applicant with complete a PG certificate in Simulation, or the PG cert in Medical Education (funded).

Each role will include a research component related to either SBME or other teaching responsibilities.

Applicants must be medically trained and have some experience of PG education and engagement with simulation.

Funding for simulation modules 2017

Yet again HEE (KSS) has agreed to support student bursaries for the two simulation modules in the PG Certificate at BSMS. In addition to bursaries we will be able to appoint another Teaching Fellow in Simulation in the department of medical education from September 2017 onwards. This post will support both the simulation teaching programmes and the Physician Associate studies whilst focussing upon a project studying the provision of ‘in situ’ simulation across the KSS region.

Applications are welcomed and interviews will start on May 16th.

MDT Global Solutions, regular contributors to Simulation modules delivered at BSMS, have released information about a new simulator to provide a realistic environment for training and education EMS staff.

Principles and Practice of Simulation; Student Feedback: November ’16

The Principles and Practice of Simulation module was successfully delivered again from 28th November – 2nd December 2016.

Quantitative and qualitative feedback from the students was extremely positive, matching the overwhelmingly positive feedback from previous iterations of the module in 2014 and 2015. A figure showing the responses (scored on a Likert scale) is shown below, along with some quotes from some of the students.

HEE KSS e-training for Trainers

At the recent HEE KSS Simulation Network meeting the availability of access to ETFT (e-training for trainers) modules was discussed.  It is planned to move the ETFT training modules to the e-LfH platform but a date for the move has not yet been confirmed.

In the meantime, the ETFT modules can still be accessed via the following link:

Available modules include one on Clinical Simulation, accessible via this link:
