For these 6 illustrations I am focusing on the themes Architecture and Childhood. My plan for these illustrations is to really push myself out of my comfort zone and try to do each one in a different style and by using a different medium and material for each drawing. I was planning on taking a panorama and chopping it up into 6 and then drawing each segment in a different style, Then piece is back together at the end. I struggled to take a panorama that was detailed and full enough to focus in on 6 segments so I decided to walk around Brighton and take photos of buildings that I liked. I am now going to do 6 architecture themed illustrations and have them as a series.

Id like to do a pen/pencil and water colour piece as a love how the effect looks when paired with a building. I think the looseness is very playful and links back to the childhood theme.

Ive been following this artist on Instagram for a while now. She draws stunning landscapes of the streets of Moscow. I love her style and how playful her use of neon colours is. She also has a really fun way of using perspective and very playful use of lines.

Id also like to do a Lino print for one of my illustrations as I think the Lino effect comes out really sharp and clean. Architecture always has bold shadows and geometric shapes which I think would be captured really well with Lino.

These illustrations were done by an artist called Mark Poulier. He uses a lot of fine line pen in his work but his style varies a lot ! I love his drawings of multiple buildings, Id like to try and do something similar of my area around phoenix as I’m on a hill I have a great view of Brighton. I also really like his more realistic stuff and I think I will try do one realistic fine line piece as well. Id probably do this piece on site so I can gather more details and get a better feel for the building.

I may also play around with the use of collaging. I came across this image whilst researching for this project and I love how simple and striking it is. the juxtaposition of a man made building and a natural cliff face is very powerful. especially seeing as the image is in black and white and the collaged part is in colour.
