Photos from John Lord exhibition

When attending the John Vernon Lord exhibition I was blown away by the amount of detail and the consistency of line work within his illustrations, I was also amazed by his tiny little sketchbooks that were filled with such detailed and imaginative illustrations. It was really interesting also to see some of Quintin Blake’s work which is a lot messier and more reckless which is a style of work I am more familiar with and enjoy practising. I found the mixture of John Lord’s work very interesting and its great to see how many different styles and techniques he uses, from his little sketchbooks to the huge distorted image of his bedroom to the tiny geometric illustration of his bedroom. From visiting this exhibition I have learnt to appreciate the amount of detail that can be added to such small images and also learnt a lot about line work and the use of fine line pens.
