Before starting anything I like to do some research and note taking so I have an idea of what my outcome would look like. I’ve had a look at a couple of photographers as well as brands that stood out to me or that just gave me some inspiration I have been looking at a couple designers but I wanted something versatile not only with the look but with what they are about. I started to look into some brands that have a cool message or that had pulled me in after reading their manifesto. I took inspiration from photographers and as well as people they would look to for inspiration.
CIRCULATING IDEAS
I have a lot of ideas and narrowing down one or two for this project was a little hard. Starting with some mood-board and colour stories I pulled together some concept ideas for the shoot that will be coming up soon. I was thinking something timeless and modern as it would suit the style of our brand/collective very much. Though we have a target market of young adults we are hoping to reach, they’re other demographic to reach as well. I have an idea to make this a location shoot with a grass field and some textured background or even a blue sky- depending on the weather of course.
FIRST PROTOTYPE IDEAS:
My first initial idea was to use the fabric scraps from up cycling to create garments for our customers to buy. this would result in a zero waste approach and would make our brand fully sustainable.
upon reflection, as group we did not choose to take this idea further as there would be not set colour and it did not coincide with our colour scheme at that current time.
INITIAL THOUGHTS
Bringing a cool concept to life with sustainability and a young audience. Making shopping for thrifted and preloved clothing a lot more accessible for anyone is what we hope to accomplish. While making it more convenient for our consumer we worked through social media to reach the right audience. Pushing a points system through an app so that it is beneficial for the consumer and us as a collective. Though seeing different brands and companies that I have had a look at try out some type of sustainability it is not something that is really done right to cut down waste. I’ve been able to look at brands that that produce little to no waste and are more than 100% sustainable. We wanted to make a collective/brand that stands for what is truly sustainable and will be better for the world long term.
MY ROLE
My role is Photography and Styling for Revamp. Finding the style and mood in collaboration with the Art Director as well as the Brander. Though my role doesn’t start until the garments/ products are produced until then I wanted to get a head start on the mood-boards, colour stories and overall themes of the shoot. Seeing a partial plan for what is being produced by the designers I am able to work around the styles and looks of it all. Picking up on the target market I want to make sure who we are pushing to promote to the right audience. Keeping in mind my inspiration I look at a couple of different photographers and brand photographers to see what style of photography that I wanted to produce when it came for Revamps outcome.
CATCHING UP
As we are coming close to easter break and we have a handful of people in the group either out of the country or are travelling home from now until the easter break is over. This is cutting close to the deadline so we wanted to make sure that everyone going away was aware of what their roles entailed and what to do before coming back. The promotion and branding team got a start on making some mockups for the social media, target market and the style of our brand. The deign team had gotten a start on some prototypes but weren’t able to start until they had gotten the materials from the thrift warehouse trip. Time is running out but we all know what needs to be done.
Initial Meetings
Gantt Chart
After our group conversation and deciding what everyones roles would be I thought it would make sense to make a Gantt chart and have the work split evenly as well as see where everyone is at in terms of timing. While it feels like the beginning of this project we have only just assigned roles and started with some research.
Group meeting
Wednesday 9th November 2022
We met for an hour after our business lecture, to discuss what roles everyone should take on. We divided the work load between us and set homework for us to present to each other in the next meeting.
We decided that we wanted to change our original name Revamp and we narrowed down exactly what our ideas were.
These are everyones roles:
