In the mid 20th Century, Warner Bros. took over from Disney as the most culturally significant creator of American animation, by making cartoons packed with pop-culture references, satire, hilarious gags, and political commentary. This seminar will look at how the success of Warner Bros. cartoons reflected changes in mid-century American culture, as society became more media literate and attuned to culture that was self-reflective and irreverent.
