‘Palimpself’ Exhibition ( 2 – 28 October 2024), Byre Theatre, part of the University of St Andrews
An in-person presentation about the exhibition ‘Palimpself’ by Susan Diab, commissioned by the University of St Andrews to accompany the conference ‘1974-2024: Annie Ernaux’s Years – a Global Perspective’ held by the Universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh and organised by Dr Elise Hugueny-Léger and Dr Fabien Arribert-Narce.
This presentation will touch on the following topics:
- A ‘residency in reading’ the works of Annie Ernaux, Nobel Prize for literature 2022.
- The ‘palimpsest sensation’, ‘palimpself’, time and experience
- The convergence of literature and visual art.
- The relationship of fiction to autobiography.
- Context specific installation in a busy theatre setting.
- ‘L’écriture feminine’, writing by women and access to the universal.
