Research and Knowledge Exchange Magazine – Issue 20

This issue provides a timely opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved together and to look ahead with clarity and confidence. It comes at a time when the higher education sector is experiencing unprecedented challenge and uncertainty. Yet, in the face of these pressures, our research and knowledge exchange community continues to demonstrate resilience and a shared determination to make a positive difference and reimagine our future.

Research and knowledge exchange are central to our mission. They enrich our teaching, strengthen partnerships and collaborations, and generate new knowledge that responds to real-world needs. This digital magazine provides a snapshot of the reach, relevance and impact of our work, celebrating contributions from colleagues and students across the university.

In this issue, you will discover how our work in health, sustainability and society is shaping public conversation and informing policy and practice. Once again, we are proud to share sector-leading results in the Knowledge Exchange Framework, recognising the value we create through collaboration with businesses, communities and public and third-sector partners.

This edition shines a light on the people and environments that make excellence possible, including our postgraduate researchers, early career researchers, Centres of Research Excellence, and the opportunities for students to engage in research that builds skills, confidence and employability.

You can also find ways to become involved in the months ahead, from inaugural lectures and Research and Knowledge Exchange Week to articles on preparing for the next Research Excellence Framework. We would also appreciate your feedback on the magazine – please do scroll to the end of the issue and share your views in the short survey.

Thank you to our academic and professional services colleagues, postgraduate researchers and partners whose dedication and collaboration make these achievements possible. I hope you find this issue inspiring and informative, and I wish you a restful festive break and a positive start to the new year.
