Grant Capture: Placement Opportunity via Techne Doctoral Training Partnership | Expression of Interest deadline 5 January 2026

We have had the a placement opportunities come through to share with you in partnership with the  Smithsonian and University of Brighton.  The placement will be remote/virtual and not in the USA. See file here:AHRC Techne Smithsonian virtual placement FINAL The research project invites AHRC Techne Researchers to research and contribute to the cataloguing of 129 Constable daguerreotypes held by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History (Washington, D.C. USA). You will work with an American curator (Shannon Perich, National Museum of American History) and an English academic (Annebella Pollen, University of Brighton) to research the photographer’s history, his contributions to the field and to improve the museum’s catalogue records. You will learn about museum work, curation, interdisciplinary research, and writing for the public. Grant Capture: AHRC and BBC New Generation Thinkers 2026 – UoB Demand Management and Timeline of Support

  The AHRC and BBC New Generation Thinkers 2026 scheme has recently opened, with a deadline of 28 January 2026. The University of Brighton will be implementing a Demand Management process for this scheme. This is for  PhD students and ECRs. Event: Holiday collage with Material Histories Group | 10 December 2025 3.30-5pm at Grand Parade, M2

Dear colleagues Please do consider attending our holiday collage event on 10 December, which will be held in M2 in Grand Parade, from 3.30 – 5.00pm. Light festive fare will be served, there will be seasonally-appropriate music (but nothing to ruin your Whamaggedon score), and we will spend a couple hours merrily collaging. Grant Capture: School of Art and Media QR Bid forms

Quality Research funding (QR)  for the School of Art and Media is where colleagues can apply for funding to support a range of activities which will contribute to outputs for our next REF29 (The Research Excellence Framework) submission. There are two proformas one for conferences and the other to cover all other activities such as exhibition costs and open access images. All purchasing must be made through university suppliers and should be arranged in consultation with R&KE administrator Karen Gainsford and submitted to the R&KE Dean Charlotte Gould. Grant Capture: Deadlines and Details – second call for the 2025–26 Research and Knowledge Exchange (R&KE) Development Fund is now open

The second call for the 2025–26 Research and Knowledge Exchange (R&KE) Development Fund is now open. This internal scheme offers awards of up to £10,000 to support early-stage, exploratory projects that advance research and knowledge exchange activity. Funding is available for project costs only and must be spent by 30 June 2026, with all projects completed by 31 July 2026. All applicants must engage with their R&KE Administrator as early as possible to confirm their School’s internal approval process and deadlines. These vary by School and must be factored into your planning. Applications must be signed off by both your R&KE Administrator and your Associate Dean (R&KE) before submission. Applications submitted without these approvals will not be considered.
