Programme Launch and Reflecting In and On practice – Prof. Paul Sermon Tuesday 18th November 2025, 3.00pm Edward Street 207 & Teams
Teams ‘Group-School of Art & Media PGR Students’ (Teams Code: umsgg23)
This talk will present examples of reflective practice methods used in the field of digital media arts and performance. Since the beginnings of my own creative practice in the early 1990s I have continually followed a reflective methodology, defined by Donald Schön (1983) and by Linda Candy (2008) as ‘reflection-in/on-action’. Each project has been undertaken through an action-research process, whereby much of the development and experimentation process occurs in the gallery or public venue through a site-specific practice-based approach that relies significantly on audience engagement in terms of both interaction and observation.
