CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS: SAM Postgraduate Research Culture Symposium 2025 | 12 November 2025 9-5pm at Grand Parade, Sallis Benney

Dear School of Art and Media PGR Students,

Please hold the date… Wednesday 12th November 2025, 9am to 5pm for our second Postgraduate Research Culture Symposium, in the Sallis Benney Theatre, Grand Parade, as part of this year’s SAM Research Week, from 10th to 14th November 2025.

Following last year’s successful symposium, we are again planning a full-day event focusing on our postgraduate research culture, and we are once again calling for your vital contributions. This could include any aspect of your PhD research, and at any stage. It could be a 10 minute talk or a longer 20 minute presentation from a paper based on a chapter or project, a demo of a practical outcome or activity, a screening of a video, a performance, a panel discussion or workshop proposal, or whatever format best suits your research.

Please submit a brief outline of your proposal to me (p.sermon@brighton.ac.uk), including a title, a 150-word description, duration, and an image if possible, by Wednesday 15th October 2025.

This is a great opportunity to share your research and build connections with other students and staff. I look forward to hearing from you – and please do contact me if you have any questions.

Best regards, Paul
