Grant Capture: School of Art and Media Grant Capture Strategy

The School of Art and Media aim to foster research bidding culture in the school through Research and Knowledge Exchange activities and events supported by the REGS and Cores. Funding is a Key Performance Indicator for RKE and it is a priority for the school to build our bidding culture enhancing our reputation and our staff profiles across the sector. Through collaboration with external partners we aim to make a difference to the world, identifying and addressing global challenges, developing new knowledge, delivering innovative and creative solutions and positive impact for global, national and local communities.

AIMS

Raise the visibility for bidding culture  – Raise the visibility of bidding culture to support talent and enable staff to engage with bidding activities through workshops and events. Visual communication is key and we share activities, events and success stories and top tips for bidding on the RKE blog which is image rich and also has featured articles and updates from successful bidders.

Build networks for Collaboration – Build networks for collaboration around regular funder themes which align with staff research (such as global challenges) matching opportunity to ambition through REGs and CORE activities and school events. Support staff to identify and build their networks and to apply for networking bids and internal bids to develop partnerships. Support practitioners to develop their existing connections for knowledge exchange partnerships through meetings, events and activities.

Develop Capacity and Success for bidding – Develop capacity for bidding from less experienced researchers to senior researchers to establish a track record. Those without a track record are supported to bid for internal bids. ECRs are encouraged to work with established researchers on bids. Support staff resilience refocusing unsuccessful bids for success working with the Grant Capture Lead and through the mentoring scheme to support staff to succeed.
