I am pleased to invite you to the exhibition opening of All Roads Lead to Johannesburg by Em Walker, 2023, BA Painting alumnus. The exhibition will feature a selection of monoprints that together form a map of the places where Walker has lived. A large floor-based painting sits alongside books and journals related to painting, Africa and protest.

Em Walker is a South African born painter living and working in Brighton, East Sussex. Her work navigates the boundaries of Fine Art Painting by interrogating its long history of tradition and convention. Em dismantles our understanding of the painter, the canvas, and exhibition space, with a focus on expanded painting and alternative curation.
