News: New REG – Creative Industries Reg

The Creative Industries Research Excellence Group (REG) acknowledges the significant contribution of the creative industries to the prosperity, well-being, and resilience of both the UK and broader society.

It comprises academics from diverse disciplines engaged in outward-facing practices and research that both enhance and challenge conventional methodologies within the creative industries, adopting a discipline-agnostic approach across the cultural and communication industries, including fashion and textile design, fine art, games design, sound and music, and media and film.

Fostering collaboration with local businesses, government entities, and communities, the Creative Industries Research Excellence Group seeks to push the boundaries of knowledge and practice in the creative sectors through projects that include: collaborating with industry partners to produce and distribute podcasts and comics focused on helping children with their mental health; examining creative crafting communities in social online environments; finding pathways for early-career entrepreneurs in the creative industries and associated support ecosystems; and investigating the role of design and user experience in the creative industries, focusing on how and why users interact with content.
