There is a Private View: Friday 9 February 5:30-7:30 pm Dorset Place Gallery
The exhibition 22 January- 17 February 2024 At Dorset Place Gallery (note that the exhibition is open Saturday by appointment).
Works included in the exhibition correspond closely with the Dorset Place Gallery architecture and immediate surroundings, inviting consideration of the building as a site of photographic production and display. Street facing windows are rethought as apertures, lenses and frames to transform how the gallery and its location can be seen as – and in relation with – pictures. Picture Windows builds upon Heron’s past projects exploring urban environments, a selection from which feature in the exhibition to complement new work. All works are photographed with analogue view camera technology and hand printed from colour negative using the chromogenic print process. Together, the exhibited works contribute to an ongoing enquiry into how ordinary places photographed as they appear can become pictured to address their significance and concentrate seeing.
