INVITE: Sound Walk September 2022

Now entering its fifth year, walk · listen · create is very excited to remind us of the open call for soundwalks to be celebrated this autumn, during Sound Walk September. Crowdsourced from around the world, Sound Walk September each year celebrates all forms of soundwalks and sound walking events, culminating in the Sound Walk September Awards. It is a global community event, celebrating outdoor audio, geo-located, immersive performances, sound walks and audio-enhanced walking pieces. Initiated by Babak Fakhamzadeh (Brazil), Andrew Stuck (UK) and Geert Vermeire (Greece) and with 3,500 registered users, it is the largest network of its kind.

The coordinators walk · listen · create write:

‘We call for the creation of sound walks and walking pieces. We invite all interested in exploring the impact and possibilities of sound walking to submit existing and new work.
1. We call for the submission of existing and new sound walks and walking pieces via the on-line form here. Successful submissions will be included in our online Directory of walking pieces.
2. We call for the creation of events connected to walking pieces or sound walks, to be realized during Sound Walk September, to be submitted here. Successful submissions will be included in our online Directory of events.
3. We call for the organization of sound walk and walking piece related workshops around the world, to be realized during Sound Walk September 2022.

Sound Walk September is open to everyone for instance: creatives, artists, sound artists, musicians, poets, architects, performers, designers, anthropologists, writers, health and wellness professionals, cultural and social professionals, educators, teachers, students, those interested to explore the impact and possibilities of sound walking.
To be considered for the Sound Walk September 2022 Awards, every new sound walk created after September 30, 2021 is eligible, and every event related to sound walking held during September 2022 is eligible.’

Sound Walk September was initiated in 2017, by the Museum of Walking, of which our long-time colleague Andrew Stuck is the founder. With Andrew, we share a common interest in the support of quality walkable urban landscapes.
