Plattform Produktives Stadtgrün meets Berlin’s community gardening activists
Yesterday, the AG Stadt & Ernährung discussed their initial ideas for a new online platform about Berlin’s productive urban green spaces with some of the city’s community gardening activists.
Since having been commissioned towards the end of 2018 by the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection [Senatsverwaltung für Umwelt, Verkehr und Klimaschutz], the AG Stadt & Ernährung [Working Group City & Food], has been working on a concept for the new online Plattform Produktives Stadtgrün [Platform Productive Urban Green].
Beatrice Walthall and Katrin Bohn presented first findings during one of Berlin’s long-standing Workshop Talks Urban Gardening [Werkstadtgespräche Stadtgärtnern] which are organised jointly and regularly by the Senate Department and community garden activists.
A key component of the Platform will be the website “Community Gardens [Gemeinschaftsgärten]” intended to become an innovative tool of exchange and networking for and by Berlin’s community gardeners. At the same time, the platform aims to make visible and open up the participatory process in the development of a city-wide strategy for urban and intercultural gardens and allotments.
Katrin Bohn is a founder member of the Working Group City & Food and, with Beatrice Walthall, accompanies the project for this group. They have teamed up with web designers / programmers Scholz Constructors.
The (final) Platform Productive Urban Green can be found here.
