Managing Change
This module is designed to enhance senior clinicians, practitioners and third sector personnel in Leadership roles to develop their insight, critical awareness and understanding of change management and how we can utilise change management theories and perspectives within our practice. There is a focus on examining strategies for achieving organisational results, innovation and change within teams and organisations.

Content
This dynamic student-centred module is designed to develop your insight into and critical understanding of contemporary change management theories/frameworks and strategies, and their applicability to practice and your role within this.
Content will include:
- analysis of personal, professional and organisational reactions to change
- planning change and the role of the change agent
- leadership of planned and unplanned change
- leading and managing change in complex and uncertain environments
- project management, organising the change process
- organisation management theory
- organisational culture and its inextricable link to leadership
- strategies for change; the experience of re-structuring, re-engineering and re-location
- the concept of the learning organisation
- change theory, chaos theory and postmodernism.
Entry requirements
Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Assessments
The 3,000 words essay assignment will be individually negotiated during the course of the module and will reflect your needs and interests. The assignment provides an opportunity to demonstrate wide reading, in-depth understanding and the ability to synthesise issues/arguments and theories that have been studied in the module.
The assessment may be either a critical analysis of a planned change/innovation or a retrospective analysis of a change that has already taken place in the work or organisational context. If you are to play, or have played, a key role in the change process the role needs to be included and critically analysed.
