This module will provide you with an opportunity to study the theories of clinical biomechanics and its applications to musculoskeletal pathologies of the lower limb.
The module structure and assignment are designed to challenge your thinking, promote critical evaluation of your own clinical practice and help to enhance evidence-based practice in relation to management of musculoskeletal conditions of the lower limb.
The module also includes practical human movement analysis sessions
where students get to test their own orthotics design / footwear
recommendations.
Module aims
- To provide students with an opportunity to study theories of clinical biomechanics and its applications to musculoskeletal pathologies of the lower limb
- To allow students to gain an appreciation of the variety of evidence based management methods of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the lower limb
- To provide students with an opportunity to explore their own clinical practice, particularly regarding orthotics design and footwear recommendations
Entry requirements
Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Assessments
Students will write an essay based on a patient case selected from their own practice or from a case study provided if have no access to a case load
