Content
The module aims to develop and enhance the knowledge, understanding and practice skills of students in promoting the delivery of high quality evidence-based care for neonates requiring intensive care. By the end of the module the student will be able to provide evidence of achievement of the knowledge, skills and competencies for the Qualified in Speciality (QIS) status as a neonatal practitioner. The module content includes the pathophysiology of neonatal conditions and clinical management, neonatal services and care provision, long term implications of prematurity and role transition theory, clinical leadership and resilience
Entry Requirements
Students will need to undertake the Neonatal Work Based Learning module NA6150 or NA7150 or equivalent prior to commencing this second neonatal module.
Applicants should be working in the UK as a healthcare professional for a minimum of 2 days per week with normally 1 year post-registration experience and working in a clinical area with support available from a designated mentor. Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent or have evidence of the ability to study at postgraduate level
Assessments
E-portfolio of evidence demonstrating: achievement of the competencies required for QIS neonatal practitioners in relation to the seven core dimensions of the knowledge and skills framework, 3000 word assignment on an aspect of neonatal intensive care and the impact on the infant, family and neonatal service and clinical skills assessed in practice
