Heart Failure

This module is for nurses, paramedics and allied healthcare professionals working in acute and primary care settings caring for patients with heart failure

NH6110 (level 6) and NAM110 (level 7)

Content

Pathophysiology of heart failure, physiological responses · Acute and chronic heart failure: systolic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, diastolic heart failure with preserved ejection fraction · Clinical assessment, differential diagnoses, symptom management and co-morbidities · Evidence-based management: pharmacological, devices and other non-pharmacological interventions· Role of national/international guidelines · Patient education and self-care monitoring · Supporting the patient and family with end-of-life planning and care

Entry Requirements 

Applicants should be working in the UK as a healthcare professional for a minimum of 2 days per week, working in a clinical area with support available from a designated mentor. Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent or have evidence of the ability to study at postgraduate level
