Health Law and Ethics
This module is for practitioners registered with the HCPC or NMC who wish to increase their knowledge and critical understanding of professional and ethico-legal issues in the healthcare system. It aims to support students in actively encouraging equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities and to enable them to promote the interests of their clients, particularly when their rights have been compromised.

Content
The English legal system and its application to healthcare, western and non-western ethical theories, professional liability and negligence, confidentiality, justice, equality and human rights, mental health. Ethical issues: Children and young people, mental health and the beginnings and endings of life
Entry Requirements
Applicants at level 6 must possess a DipHE or FdSc or equivalent in a relevant subject and would normally be registered with a Professional and Statutory Regulatory Body e.g. NMC, HCPC. In addition, applicants at level 7 should normally possess a bachelor degree or or evidence of an ability to study at postgraduate level
