Coronary Heart Disease
This module is for nurses, paramedics and allied healthcare professionals working in acute care who regularly work with patients with coronary heart disease and acute coronary syndromes.

Content
Pathophysiology of coronary heart disease, acute plaque erosion and plaque rupture associated with ACS
Patient assessment including history-taking, physical assessment, interpretation of 12-lead ECG and serum cardiac markers with reference to current national and international guidelines
Coronary heart disease prevention and identification including patient assessment and risk stratification
Emergency response to ACS including evidence-based pharmacological therapies and interventions
Pharmacological therapies for secondary prevention of coronary heart disease · Percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass graft surgery: pre and post-procedure care.
Management of complications associated with CHD and ACS · Cardiac rehabilitation for patients following ACS · Psychosocial aspects of patient/family education and support
Discussion of the role of professional networks and health care professionals in provision of cardiac services and cardiac rehabilitation · National and international guidelines and current evidence-based practice for coronary heart disease and ACS.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should be working in the UK as a healthcare professional for a minimum of 2 days per week, in an appropriate clinical area with support available from a designated mentor.
Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent or have evidence of the ability to study at postgraduate level
