Community Placement: Developing Health Promotion Competencies
This module is for Students on a Masters programme within School of Sports & Health Sciences who wish to understand or experience the voluntary or public health sector and develop generic professional competencies around working with volunteers and communities.
The module can contribute to a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Masters award.

This module is designed to support career development and encourage formation of networks within health promotion practice. Students undertake a 65+ hour voluntary placement usually with a not–for–profit organisation. You will develop knowledge and skills around core health promotion standards and competencies, or equivalent generic professional competencies relevant to your profession. Your placement will involve community engagement through face-to-face interaction with the public as well as collaborating with professional staff in the organisation.
Entry requirements
Be enrolled and have successfully passed at least 20 credits of level 7 modules on a masters, or PG diploma programme in SSHS.
Assessments
Analytical placement report 75% mark
Blog entry video 25% mark and compliance documents.
Rolling Assessment submission dates depending on your placement. Submitted on the nearest official hand-in day at least 4 weeks after completion of placement.

This module is placement module so there are dates for supporting action learning sets but the dates of the placement are set by the student and the placement setting.
