Child Physical Assessment

Nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals practising in hospital and community settings who regularly work with infants, children and young people from 0 to 18 and their families.

Content 

Skills for taking a health history for a range of body systems in infants, children and young people. Age appropriate principles, processes, tools and techniques for conducting an advanced physical assessment. System based anatomy, physiology and child development. Interpretation of abnormal health history and physical assessment findings based upon pathophysiology of a range of body systems leading to differential diagnoses and clinical action plans for infants, children and young people.  

Entry Requirements  

Health care professional currently registered with a professional, statutory and regulatory body with normally 1 year post-registration experience. Applicants at level 7 would normally possess a bachelor degree or equivalent or have evidence of the ability to study at postgraduate level

Assessments

Essay, Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and completion of 7 skills in practice
