DBS

DBS stands for Disclosure Barring Service.

It is a LEGAL requirement that ALL MPharm student should obtain a valid, clear, UK Enhanced DBS certificate at the start of Year 1.  This needs to be obtained via the University of Brighton.  If you have Intermitted, you need to apply for a new DBS: please contact clearancechecks@brighton.ac.uk immediately after your return to University.

Failure to obtain this  certificate will impact on your placements and affect your progression, and could result in referral to Fitness to Practise.

We strongly recommend that applicants sign up to the DBS update service –  https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service – within 28 days of the certificate being issued.  There is an annual charge of £13 for subscription, but it means that you can then use that certificate in the future, which may benefit you for future placements and employment opportunities.

If you have an Enhanced DBS from another source, this will only be accepted if you have an Update Service on it, and the form complies with our requirements.  Please contact ClearanceChecks@brighton.ac.uk to check if it is acceptable.

If you receive a Police caution or court summons mid-term, you should IMMEDIATELY contact the Placement Coordinators, and complete this form.
