When I was younger I was never passionate about sports, however I was always interested in the idea of finding solutions to problems. It was only when I was in high school that my love of american football developed, then when I started university I started playing. The sport interests me as it is complex and has many layers, it is a physical game yet you must have a good understanding of the game to play well, when playing you rely as much on your strength and physical ability as you do on your knowledge and intelligence. The sport is like chess with many moving parts and different strategy’s. I want to combine the passion of my sport and my interest for finding solutions. I believe I can improve this sport by using the knowledge I have gained from engineering, this would be by either improving the equipment I use while playing, or by developing the equipment further to make the sport safer.
