About the client…

The client is a 54-year-old, 58kg female runner whom is looking at altering her diet to a vegan. She currently runs 20km each week as she is training for her first marathon. However, she has recently been told that she is struggling with high blood pressure and cholesterol. As well as using medication, she has opted to utilise a vegan diet, since it has been demonstrated to reduce high cholesterol and blood pressure (Elkan et al., 2008). She’s worried that a vegan diet will be difficult to sustain when preparing for the marathon.

This blog focusses on providing the athlete with a meal the day before the marathon to aid the fuelling stage.
