Lavender hair

This year, for my birthday, I got loads of hair care products. I mean loads. For a year I have been trying to embrace my natural hair. On the whole, I like it but sometimes I think I can look scruffy.

I’m guessing the hair care products are my friends’ way of encouraging my endeavour rather than subtly letting me know my efforts aren’t working. Regardless, I’m enjoying my deep conditioning masques and shampoos.

A few years ago I went to a salon and had the most amazing hair cut. It sticks out in my mind because it was the first time that a hairdresser did not straighten my hair. They bobbed my hair in the style of Queenie Goldstein, and used a lovely shampoo and conditioner on me. A few days later I emailed asking for the name of the brand but I didn’t get a response. So I started researching online for similar products. I eventually found a product that I use regularly.

But today I was visiting TK Maxx and as I walked down the stairs to pay for a journal a brilliant blue bottle caught my eye.

I was sure this was it! As I got closer I could see a conditioner with mint in. I grabbed the bottle and smelt the nozzle (that sounds so weird). I was transported back to that day in the hairdresser’s chair.

EO have a wonderful range of products for curly-haired people. My favourite one, which currently isn’t on their official website is, the rosemary and mint conditioner.

I’m currently putting together a presentation for an assessment in a couple of weeks. So obviously I’m procrastinating.

I start working for Canterbury again in a couple of weeks. I’ve been offered another short-term contract. I’m happy to be returning.

The festive break was hard for me. And I haven’t quite got back to feeling OK. But I know it’s around the corner.

K suggested I spoil myself for my birthday so I’ve been wearing my Spoil Me robe from Lovehoney. When I wear it I feel like Marty Maraschino at the slumber party in Grease. There’s something about lounging around in a fancy robe that makes me feel like journalling. Plus bold colours always make me feel powerful.

Communication

One of the additional #EdublogsClub prompts is writing about preferred methods of communication. Mine is the Outlook and Skype for Business double combo!

I’m more of an emailer than any other form of communication. I just like having time to reread and think about my reply. I also like having Skype for Business because I can instant message my classmates, lecturers and ex-colleagues with ease. I like that people can see if I am online, in a meeting or away from my computer.

BSU electorate

One of the additional #EdublogsClub prompts is sharing a statistic and writing about it. I want to share a few screenshots with you after having a discussion with a member of staff on Grand Parade campus last spring. He said that Grand Parade students vote in an equal percentage to other campuses. I did not agree so I tried to obtain some statistics from the student union. Unfortunately, due to limited server space they were not able to access statistics from previous years.

In my post about the by-election 2016, I noted that 369 students voted and in the most recent by-election I noted that there were 321 votes in total (NB/ the term votes is used not voters, so it is possible that less than 321 people voted). Since my post, the student union found some more statistics for me.

Creative Journals

One of the additional #EdublogsClub prompts is writing about hobbies or interests. I think I may have touched on these in previous posts (eg. reading, journaling and art journaling) but I love journals and zines. I especially enjoy looking at creative journals because I am a huge fan of colour and collage. Recently I rediscovered The Goddess Guide and The Goddess ExperienceI bought the former for my favourite blogger but accidentally donated it to a charity shop (fully gift-wrapped with a card inside). The pages are so rich and I’ve always found high fashion fun to look at. It definitely is eye candy for me.
