Mobile Phones

  • Many people have their own mobile phone which they carry around with them.

  • They are a great way to always be in contact with people.

  • Most mobile phones have inbuilt cameras and video recorders which are great for capturing pictures and film of special events in your life.

  • Sometimes its nice to share a photo on social media or send it to friends.

  • But after you send it you lose control over who sees it.

  • Sometimes it may seem funny to share pictures with close friends that you may not want anyone else to see.

  • Sometimes people send pictures of parts of their naked or semi-naked body and sexually explicit messages.

This is called Sexting

Sexting is illegal under the age of 18.

The film below shows how, at first, it may seem like fun but what can happen after you have sent an image.

Why do people share pictures like these?

  • Peer pressure-feeling left out if they don’t do it.

  • Feeling in love-wanting to show their boyfriend or girlfriend how they feel about them.

  • Being bullied- giving into the bullies.

  • Wanting to show off their body- being proud of their body.

  • It can be difficult when deciding whether or not you should share a picture.

The power point below shows you what pictures are  safe and what ones you should never share.
