Project 01

Project Title- Test, Research, Calculate and Analysis of Gas Turbines.

Aim- To test and analyse by varying different variables for a GT185 two shaft gas turbine for particular power inputs to find out how efficient they are.

Approach-

  • First, the turbine 1 (N1) was set to different ranges of values and is operated in 3 core set values for turbine 2 (N2) as shown on the table below.

  • Raw data was collected during the lab sessions and their mean values were calculated to avoid repetition.

  • There were six parameters to be calculated using the data collected.
  • All the calculated parameters were plotted as the S.D. and mean using MATLAB.

Analysis-

For all the graphs plotted the standard deviation and the mean was calculated. The S.D. was included on each of the point. Standard deviation is the measure of variation based on measuring how far each data value deviates or is different from the mean of the same data values. S.D. will be zero if all the data points are equal, but it will get larger as the data spread out.

Results-

The model was tested and the outcomes were analysed to draw conclusions. From all the graphs produced it was determined that the gas turbine was able to convert all the input energy in an efficient way.
