Early Years SBT 3 – School Setting
Introduction:
During the course of their training, trainee teachers need to be prepared to teach across the 0 to 5 age range (the EYFS). Moreover, their understanding of the educational continuum of expectations, curricula, and teaching in Key Stages 1 will be enhanced through engaging with experiences of teaching within a school.
During SBT3 no trainee will be required to perform more than 90% of the duties normally required of a full time early years teacher. Therefore it is expected they receive a percentage of their working week as non-contact time.
SBT3 is 20th – 31st January 2025
20th – 24th January: 5 days in a Reception class
27th – 31st January: 3 days Reception class; KS1 x 1 day and KS2 x 1 day
At the University of Brighton your mental health and wellbeing is always our priority.
Support for trainees can be found at Wellbeing (brighton.ac.uk) and in the Partnership in Education (PiE) handbook.
Support for anyone in Early Years settings can be found at Early years practitioner wellbeing support – Help for early years providers – GOV.UK (education.gov.uk)
