Who we are

We are a group of enthusiastic first-year engineering students at Brighton University, embarking on an exciting journey into the world of engineering. Based at the Moulsecoomb campus, in the lively and innovative city of Brighton, we are immersed in an environment that encourages creativity and practical learning. Our university’s emphasis on hands-on education and professional development equips us with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in our field. Together, we are eager to explore the vast opportunities ahead, collaborate on cutting-edge projects, and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of engineering.

The various job roles enacted

Design engineer

To come up with various iterations of the water rocket, and come up with the optimal design that would give the best desired results whilst keeping the different strengths and weaknesses of the design in mind.

Manufacturer

To design a functional to-scale prototype and create a tangible 3D model to be tested from the iterations provided by the design engineer.

Calculation and coding specialist

To aid the manufacturer in having the correct dimensions for the prototype, to do any and all calculations needed to ensure that the water rocket would work as desired, to calculate the best water to air ratio(1:2) for the water rocket to achieve its optimal height, and do the micro bit coding.

Consolidator

To consolidate all the work carried out in this project into the website, they also created the cost of materials list for the project.

Above is the gantt chart we constricted in the beginning stages of our project. the pink markings are the time we expected to take on completing the milestones, and the blue markings are the time the tasks actually took.
