Panel Session – Year of the Resource – Monday 3 January 2018 – 18.15 to 19.00 hours – Sallis Benney Theatre:
The Geological Societies 2018 theme is the “Year of Resources” and in line with this the Mineral Deposits Studies Group AGM is hosting a panel discussion and Q&A session including representatives from both industry and academia who will discuss the future of mineral deposits research, and the role of both academia and industry on the sustainable extraction and use of natural resources. Confirmed panel members include:

Early bird registration rates for professionals, PhD students, and MSc students will apply until Friday 17 November and final registration will close on Friday 15th December 2017 at midday.  Early Bird registration has closed.

Undergraduate registration will open on Monday 13th November and is now extended to midday on Friday 15th December 2017.   Registration fees include an Icebreaker Reception and a Conference Banquet in the Brighton Grand Hotel, lunches and teas on both conference days, an abstract volume, and a conference pack. Abstracts:
The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to Wednesday 22nd November. Abstracts must be submitted using email to MDSGBrighton@brighton.ac.uk. Contributions are invited on any topic related to mineral deposits and are particularly welcome from PhD students wishing to report research in progress. We will give as many early career scientists as possible the opportunity to make oral presentations. Following the deadline, abstracts will be organised into sessions with a common theme. Papers are welcome linked to any of the keynote themes, including environmental studies, but papers on theme linked to mineral deposit studies can be submitted and are very welcome.  Click here for abstract template document.

There will be a short course and student networking opportunity on Wednesday 3rd January prior to the Icebreaker reception – this will be held at our Moulsecoomb campus – Huxley Foyer and Huxley 300 – see link here for directions:
