Who Do I Want To Work For?
The first question when starting this portfolio project is, who do I ultimately want to work for?
When starting to think about this database, I have thought about the likelihood of having to start with internships as a way of getting into the companies listed. For photographic jobs I think I’d need to start with assistance based internships as I appreciate I don’t know a lot of the industry photographic standards that would be needed in a freelance orĀ assistant job. If I wanted to work for most magazines I would also need to first seek an internship as a way of getting into the company, and hope I show off my talents enough in the time I’m there for them to consider further employment.
The only job I feel I could truly get at this stage after graduation and now the very unpredictable post Coronavirus job market is at TANK magazine. While I was there I got a lot of recognition and they were impressed by the photography I did for them. At the time I was there they gave me an interview at the end but this, unfortunately, came to them telling me to keep in touch seeing as I still had another year at uni to finish.
Whilst the database I have produced is essentially ‘dream’ jobs that I would have to work my way into rather than just achieving straight away I think they are a good goal to start with whilst I work out where I fit best when I do start applying for jobs after I have graduated.
