Editing

I decided to look at more advanced video editing techniques. I knew the basics already, but I wanted to look at better ones. I decided to look at colour grading colour grading goes beyond, just basic adjustments and involve more intricate control over the colour pallet and visual mood of your video I thought this would be a good one to look at because tech magazine is going for more pop of colour, I specifically looked at HDR grading. This advanced colour grading includes techniques to handle HDR content. This involves adjusting the brightness and contrast of highlights and shadows in a way that maintains both dark and bright areas. Capcut has an easy to use HDR colour editor so I’m going to trial that out on the next video I edit.

Website design

We had a website design workshop where we learnt out to visually map out the structure and layout of a website, providing a roadmap for key elements like navigation, bars and content sections. It’s like creating a blueprint before diving into the intricate Details. It was a hands-on approach that helps simulate how the user goes through the website and what things go first. we learnt the correct way of putting things together showing to us the best way possible for going through your website.

Lewes Shoot

Today we went to Lewes And we found some places to do a photo shoot. Liv and Scarlett both skirts and football shirts. We went by Lewes FC ground but won’t allowed in so we decided to go to a castle instead which had great views. This time I remembered to get behind the scenes videos so that I can edit a video in the future. We had an idea to contact Lewes FC to maybe use their ground in the future. I think that’s a great idea because it links with our magazine well. We could use the grounds as a photo shoot. I doubt they’ll let us on the pitch, but even in the ground would be good.

First Edit

I thought I’d get cracking on and make a video edit of the behind-the-scenes photos I got I had an idea that I could show a video behind-the-scenes then it would skip to show a full HD photo of our final image. I thought this as I didn’t have many videos to make a full-blown edit, so I could just use short snippets and then cut to a good photo. I think next time I need to remember to film more instead of talking to the group hahah

I tried using iMovie but I really couldn’t get my head around it. I know it’s the ideal one for MacBook but I just didn’t really like how it was working so I went for CapCut which is tick-tock’s collaboration editor. I use this and it was so much better so I think I’m gonna use it throughout the project.

Because this is my first edit, it took me awhile to sort everything out, but I got to the end and made a final edit.

Today, we had our first-ever shoot, and we didn’t really know what was going on or what we were going to do. We decided we’ll go with the sports idea and choose tennis. We decided that strawberries and cream are great props because that’s what you have at Wimbledon, especially posh people I knew about some tennis courts at Preston Park which were only a 10 minute walk from all of us so we decided to go there as our first location. We had an extra named Tom who came in sports gear, and Jean jacket to represent the football hooligans. We decided that Scarlett was going to be the opposite of posh and be quite messy to juxtaposition the tennis idea and Tom as a football hooligan should sit there. Quite relaxed like he would be at a tennis game. We liked the switch and it kind of just made sense on the spot.

Workshop

We had a workshop day where we made collages. we looked at different magazines like vogue and Elle. we deconstructed the magazines and took out the titles articles images referencing, and all that we complied our favourite fonts and put that on our piece of paper to identify what kind of layout we like. We liked pastel colours and we liked it quite minimal so not much stuff going on. We don’t want it to be busy. We even spoke about what kind of paper we like we like a firm glossy, not a thin glossy because thin glossy speaks cheap.

First Ideas

We were given a massive A3 piece of paper and a pen, and we are going to talk about any ideas that we have as a group. I worked with Liv and Izzy last year, but the rest I’ve never spoke to. we came down to a few ideas which is sports. that’s calm me down a bit because I was hoping we weren’t do anything girly a few of the girls watch football so we had a discussion about that. I’ve been researching sports in the UK and the top ones are football cricket rugby tennis. We got a lot down on our piece of paper and we’ve come out with a lot of ideas.
