Looking into youth and the cultures that we have adapted from and now, that are recycling from past generations – i came across Marc Jacob’s shoot for Perry Ellis in 93. I thought this was perfect. The styling really mimics a stereotype of a 90’s school kid with the careless (but clever), use of layering and subtle details such as the exaggerated sleeves pulled over the model’s knuckles. Marc Jacobs added the heavy Dr Marten boot which contrasts to the delicate, pretty dresses – typical of a teenager. Realising the similarities between this collection and my own wardrobe, I need to try and reenact the shoot myself. Hopefully I can dig out huge amounts of pastel colours and oversized t-shirts from my everyday style.
