Beacon of Rights: Transforming Madeira Terrace

“Beacon of Rights” transforms Madeira Terrace in Brighton into an immersive space advocating human rights. Inspired by bioluminescent plankton and glowworms, undersea rods powered by tidal energy create dynamic light displays. These rods connect to interactive lights on the terrace ceiling, symbolizing refugee journeys and the right to freedom of movement. This design blends art, technology, and sustainability, revitalizing a historic site as a platform for social change.

“Beacon of Rights” reimagines Brighton’s Madeira Terrace with interactive light installations symbolizing the journeys of refugees. Powered by tidal energy, these lights respond to tidal movements and crowd interactions, highlighting themes of movement, borders, and human rights. This immersive design blends nature and urbanity, advocating for empathy and social change through innovative storytelling.
