Zine light and shadow workshop

In this studio workshop we played around with light and shadow. I created an abstract skeleton by ripping paper and then seeing what shadows I could create behind the screen. I enjoyed doing this workshop along with Hans to create images for my zine.

Using the different lights and colours was fun and is something I have not done before.

Monoprint experiments in the studio

In the studio we experimented with mono prints. We did this by engraving into a piece of card, rolling ink onto a glass surface and then onto our card before pressing it onto a separate piece of paper.

I created an abstract skeleton engraving by drawing with pencil and then cutting partially through the card.

In another print I cut up a rubber glove and placed the segments into the shape of a heart, then I placed the paper on top before rolling the ink. This created the soft illusion of a heart shape. In hindsight I wish I pressed the ink down further or used a little less to try and achieve the veiny effect the gloves had.

I really enjoyed using these methods but I believe it will take some more practise to fully grasp the best way to do this in my style.

Worldbuilding workshop

In the studio we experimented with different strategies of worldbuilding. By collaging and drawing I created this eery world using scientific illustrations and interesting fauna. There is a dark theme to my work and I enjoyed making something 3D which I do not usually do. In retrospect I wish I utilised more textures and depth for the next task which was creating a stop motion film.
