Within this activity, we explored chroma keying and set extensions to produce a final green-screened clip. Chroma keying allows us to isolate and remove a specific colour, in this case green, to replace it with another image, this paired with the use of the alpha channel allows for a clean mask. To extend the set we use a ‘garbage mask’ which means using the pen tool to manually cut out the perimeter not covered by the green screen, allowing the full length of the desired image or video to be visible. To get a clean and realistic final product we also make use of effects and techniques such as light warp and edge blending that wraps around the subject that was against the green screen which results in a realistic finish. All of these techniques paired can be used for future green and blue screening. Some of these techniques can also be used.
