Venice Biennale 2022

In April I visited Venice to go to the well know art event, the Venice biennale. I saw lots of art and new artists by the one that stood out to me in relation to my own practice. The French Pavilion by Zineb Sedira. Who is the first artist of Algerian descent to represent the country. Sedira talked of being an immigrant and how she connected with tv and pop culture which helped her fit in. In the main area of the pavilion were small set ups of a bar, a bedroom and a stage. through to the next room was where the film began sat down on old style movie seats we watched Sedira film and the sets from the first room used in the films. This was the first time I has seen a film set not just through my research. To see in relation to where the cameras were to the sets as well as how they were portrayed in the film. I will be considering this when photographing my own work.
