Women in horror are traditionally represented as hypersexual damsels in distress and have been the victims of violent males upset with their sexual acts. Conventionally in cinema a male gaze evokes a female character as passive in nature and an object of desire where men are represented as monsters or heroes. Violence inflicted upon female characters as a from of punishments from male offenders, normalising violence against women. Using famous interior sets from horror movies filmed on film from 1960-1980 where women have been attacked by male characters. Removing the women from the sets showing only the aftermath of the crime and the acts of violence. Each image has been shot in the same way as the film it is taken with the exact ratios.

My final photos, after taking a series of photos from a few different angels with some slight changes of lighting but still sticking to the overall theme of the movies. Psycho in black and white to the same ratio of the film 1:66. Halloween dark and dimly let from the light outside as the scene was filmed at night with the ratio of 2:39. Lastly the shinning lite from the lamp on the table to great a more after the scene affect with the ratio of 1:85.

In terms of how I want my work to be displayed, where I am in the exhibition I’m in a corner of the room. I want to use that to my advantage to help my work not look out of place I want to put psycho the black and white image one one wall and the other two coloured images on the other wall. In terms of order I will be going for time order, when the films came out. 1960- 1978 – 1980.

Framing and printing the work I have already considered. Printing I will be going to Spectrum, recommended by Matthew they have a 2 working day turn around allowing , me to get my work done quickly. In terms of frames I have looked at a few different places to get handmade frames will cost a lot more than I would want it too. There’s a small family run frame shop near my house that makes A size ready made frames in a series of colours. I want my prints in the frames to be A2 size with the images to fit that frame but with the correct ratios. In a simple Black clean frame. I did consider mounts but likes the way it looked without, it looked more like a screen without the raised mount in the frame. I still have the boarders for the image to show the ratios. I trialled black and white boarders. I thought black boarders as first as that is what you would see in a cinema, but I felt like it suffocated the image. Where as the white boarder added much more of a fine art element to the work that helped give the space and speak for itself.
