Building the bathroom

After doing some research in how others create miniatures I’ve now got an idea of how it will be created I will predominately be using materials such as clay, cardboard and recycled and reused materials. I started by creating the over all room itself. Following the pattern of the travelling sculpture I used this as my guide.

The process of making was all trail and error. I would make each individual component and then glue them all down at the end. To create the bath I used half of a liquid detergent bottle and then cardboard to square it off to have to a more realistic look I wanted to use materials similar to real life when it came joining everything to better I used clay slip like plaster.

The toilet was made with a cardboard structure and then bulked out and shaped with clay. The door is all cardboard and hot glue. The floor is painted cardboard. The titles behind the bathroom were redone a few times to make them the most realistic. I originally was going to cut small squares of double sided tape backing but it didn’t stick down as well as I wanted and was hard to get the spacing right. I then changed my idea and painted a think piece of cardboard with slip and indented the lines into to create 3D tiles.
