Insect Tiles

With help from a printmaking student I printed my etchings using an oil based ink. By inking up the etching and applying pressure onto paper with a roller. The cardboard is a more pro-recycling and involves less plastic overall being better for the environment. I left the edges kind of rough to add texture to the piece, the cardboard as it tears creates layered areas for the ink to go onto and areas that can’t to create white space. I enjoyed this technique but I’m not sure it has quite the look that I want to give off. I overall enjoyed using my hands to create after using a computer for so long, being more hands on is something I think I want to continue in this project.

I tried out some layout ideas to show off the tiles. As a collective they may not be as effective some tiles are clearer than others and receive better. My next steps are to continue making more physical work, combining the work I have been doing collages and etchings.
