Artist Statement

My work over the past three years has developed through the knowledge I have learnt at y time at the university of Brighton. For me art is not just about the visual aesthetic element it’s also about creating a feeling. Throughout many pieces of my work, I like to look at all the senses in order to great an overall experience with my piece. Not all art is easy to look at and my work is no different.

My practice often falls under two mediums of sculpture or Photography with my most current work blending the two practices together. My photographic process differs between digital or analogue dark room based. My sculptures are predominantly made from craft materials such as clay, cardboard and recycled objects. The subject matter of each body of work is often determined by the research taken place throughout and the materials I feel are best suited to the concept.  In my Practice I always want my work to hold a message or concept behind it. As my practice has progressed to become more of my own, I see a few key themes recurring. Fascinated by death and all things taxidermy my work repeatedly has a dark subject, describing my work as eerie or sometimes even grotesque.
