Kathleen Teahan – Printmaking BA(hons)

My practice revolves around ideas of longing and home.  Uncertain to what home is – home could be behind the door or where the light is leading – I am playing with ideas of opening and closing doors, giving a distorted/fragmented view. Seeking closure.

I am making installations with photographic imagery from a derelict building which has now been demolished. By projecting moving images, layering on to transparent materials and playing to create an illusion of longing, I hope to see beyond the translucency and continuous changing forms to draw the viewer into the work, provoking feelings and memories.
